Technical Manager - Displacements
Michael (Mike) Rhodes has over 40 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. He started his career as a roustabout offshore for Noble Drilling. Mike continued working evening tower for drilling contractors working his way up to Derrickhand while attending college. At age 21 Mike joined NL Baroid as a mud engineer working both on and offshore. He eventually became a consultant forming his own company and working for other consultant groups amassing over 20 years in the mud business. Mike took a job at Tetra Technologies to focus on ‘drill in” fluids but quickly was converted to working completion fluids. He spent 10 years at Tetra focused primarily on deepwater completions. It was during this time that Mike developed many of the techniques employed by many completion fluid companies today.
Mike left Tetra to start his own consultant firm UltraDeepWater Consultant group. While at UltraDeepWater, Mike participated in breaking dozens of world records in the deepwater completion arena. UltraDeepWater added displacement chemicals to its repertoire as this was the logical progression from its displacement expertise. It was during this time that Mike decided the next logical step would be to add wellbore cleaning tools to the menu as they worked hand in hand for a successful displacement. UltraDeepWater formed an alliance with Abrado to provide this triple threat of Engineering, Chemicals and Wellbore Cleanout Tools.
